Duties and Responsibilities/Chief Architect

  • Under limited supervision, assists, reviews, analyzes and renders decisions regarding government project construction and renovation.
  • Assists in the establishment of program criteria for city infrastructure construction standards.
  • Interviews and recommends architects and engineers for contracted projects.
  • Assist Contractors in managing work, construction budget, time schedules and construction inspection activities.
  • Recommends and/or plans the construction or renovation of facilities which are functional, energy efficient, economical, maintainable and environmentally pleasing, in accordance with all applicable national and local codes and standards and School Board educational requirements
  • Assists in developing and administering construction budgets.
  • Ensures compliance with established specifications, codes and city policy.
  • Provides direction to staff, contracted personnel and consultants during facilities design.
  • Inspects construction in progress and after completion for compliance with established specifications, delivery schedules and budget allocations.
  • Ensures that accurate and complete construction records are maintained.
  • Supervisory duties include instructing; assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; maintaining standards; coordinating activities and selecting new employees.
  • Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy and offers advice and assistance as needed. Receives and responds to inquiries from the requesting bodies, administrators and the general public regarding construction projects.
  • Operates a variety of equipment, such as a computer, telephone, calculator, drafting tools, etc. Utilizes Auto Cadd to prepare and review construction documents.
  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, school administration, principals, subordinates, Board members, architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, land agents, County and City personnel, and the general public.

Duties and Responsibilities/Architect

  • Consults with the Chief of the Architectural Section to ascertain requirements of the projects and confirm such requirements with him.
  • Prepares schematic design studies of assigned projects and submit to the immediate supervisor for checking and recommendation prior to presentation and approval of the City Mayor.
  • Plans and designs various local government infrastructure such as schools, parks, Police stations, day-care centers, barangay halls, General hospitals and others.
  • Prepares from the approved designs the complete construction drawings and specifications setting forth in detail the works required for the architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing/sanitary and other related works.
  • Prepares preliminary detailed estimate of project works.
  • Conducts periodical visits to project sites, checks the general progress and quality of the work and determines whether work progress is in accordance with approved plans and specifications.
  • Performs such other duties as maybe assigned by the City Mayor or the City Engineer from time to time. Assist and Interpret designs of the principal

  • Plans, lays outs, draws, and revises part, assembly, and installation engineering drawings from basic layouts, established references, notes and discussions with engineers, and standard data.
  • Completes layout drawings prepared by others in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices or may develop complete major layouts of engineering drawings.
  • Within parameters determines scaling required; inserts necessary reference planes, centering and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations, and sectioning; prepares specifications for parts, assemblies, and installations; prepares complete production detail drawings; contributes design modifications to improve quality of product or facilitate manufacturing operations.
  • Act on any question relative to the mode or manner of construction and materials to be used in the construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair, demolition, removal, installation of equipment and the location, use, occupancy and maintenance of all buildings and structures.
  • Maintain records of building and inspection activity, and complete related reports. Issue certificates as appropriate.
  • Develop and design materials prints, strategies and other related communications programs. Provide other graphic design work, desktop publishing and production support as requested to support the needs of the entire department/office

AS DESIGNER
